Committed to a greener future

Environmental Policy

The Reed Boardall Group comprises Reed Boardall Transport Ltd and Reed Boardall Cold Storage Ltd. The business of the Group is the storage and distribution of temperature controlled products, with fleet maintenance carried out by a subsidiary company, Boroughbridge Motors Ltd. Reed Boardall is committed to conducting its business in a manner which is appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impacts of its activities, products and services and promotes enhanced environmental performance.

The management of the Reed Boardall Group believe that any person employed or in contact with any activity on the Group's premises should not be affected in any way which would compromise their safety, health or peace of mind now or at any time in the future. Similarly, the Group has a commitment to carry out its business in a manner which will prevent pollution in the environment and, where possible, take actions to provide environmental benefits.

The Reed Boardall Group will take all necessary steps to ensure that all employees and contractors working on behalf of the company have the necessary competence and understanding to carry out the company activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

A key element in minimising impact to the environment will be the assessment of risk and the reduction of risk to the lowest level reasonably practicable.

The environmental aims are:

  • Implementation of an energy efficiency programme
  • Protect local watercourses and habitats
  • Reduce and, where appropriate, recycle waste

In order to achieve the aims of this policy, the Group will implement and maintain a framework for establishing and reviewing environmental objectives and targets for operation and behaviour which will meet and, where possible, exceed the requirements of applicable legal requirements, national and international legislation, codes of practice and any other requirement to which the Reed Boardall Group subscribes which relate to its environmental aspects. These objectives will be regularly reviewed, updated and clearly communicated throughout the organisation, to deliver continual improvement of environmental performance. A copy of this Environmental Policy is available on the Company Web Site www.reedboardall.com.

The management of the Reed Boardall Group recognise that the most important asset available to the company is its workforce and associated contractors. In order to meet the environmental standards and objectives which we have set for ourselves, the Group management will develop the potential of this resource to increase environmental awareness. The Group will provide them with the tools and skills to recognise and implement the most appropriate working practices.

The appointed environmental management representative is Helen Teasdale Group Quality Officer, who is responsible for ensuring that an environmental management system is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004. The performance of the environmental management system will be reviewed regularly with Top Management at a Management Review meeting, where recommendations for improvements will be discussed. This meeting will be minuted.
